OUR EQUIPMENT
The Osteoporosis Center of Simi Valley has the latest and best equipment for diagnosing osteoporosis, a state-of the-art bone densitometer. Bone densitometry is the safest method for measuring bone density and detecting bone loss. The densitometer takes Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measurements which give your physician all the information needed to determine your risk of fracture and osteoporosis.
The Bone Densitometer

Our densitometer is a Lunar DPX-IQ. It sets today's standards for high-resolution imaging and fast, precise BMD measurements. It's safe; a spine scan generates less than one tenth the radiation exposure of a chest x-ray, and one five-hundreth the dose of a CAT scan. The Osteoporosis Center's professionally trained and certified staff maintains careful quality control to ensure reliable and reproducible results.
Bone Density Tests

The bone density tests are performed by the professionally trained staff of the Osteoporosis Center. The quick and easy scans are safe, fast, non-invasive and painless. A prompt and detailed report is generated to supply precise clinical data to your physician. The report includes BMD measurements with comparison to a young adult population, and your osteoporosis risk factors. If you're working directly with the center, Dr. Diane Narhi will help you understand the results. If you have been referred to the center, the test results will be forwarded promptly to your doctor.
